Chemist
We are currently seeking a Chemist to join our team! The Chemist role is responsible for executing experiments, collecting & analyzing data, and informing R&D leadership of results within a fast- paced, high volume recycling facility. Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000 annually
DUTIES
- Research and Development: Conduct extensive research to understand the chemical composition and properties of various types of solar cells, with a particular focus on identifying the most cost-effective chemical route to refine these materials into their valuable constituents.
- Analytical Testing: Utilize advanced laboratory techniques and equipment to analyze the chemical composition of ground-up solar panel samples. Employ various spectroscopic, chromatographic, and microscopy methods to evaluate the effectiveness of recycling processes and product quality.
- Environmental Impact Assessment: Collaborate with environmental experts to assess the environmental impact of recycling methods and products, ensuring compliance with sustainability goals and regulations.
- Quality Control: Establish and implement quality control procedures to ensure the purity and safety of recycled products, meeting industry standards and customer requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, materials scientists, and other researchers, to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing across projects.
- Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in solar panel technology and recycling practices to identify innovative methods for enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of recycling processes.
- Documentation: Maintain meticulously detailed records of research findings, experimental data, and methodologies used, ensuring accurate and organized documentation for future reference and intellectual property protection.
- Safety Compliance: Prioritize safety protocols within the laboratory and work environment, ensuring all team members follow established safety guidelines and procedures.
- Communication: Present research findings and progress updates to management and relevant stakeholders, both in written reports and verbal presentations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 3-5 years working as a chemist in a research lab.
- A higher education degree in Chemistry with a focus on inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry.
- Knowledge in materials recycling and/or sustainable processes is preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting research.
- Strong understanding of chemical separation techniques, including extraction, leaching, and distillation processes.
- Strong knowledge of computers and using them to collaborate effectively with a remote workforce.
- Proficiency in using analytical equipment such as XRF, ICP-MS, ICP-OES and/or AA.
- Proficiency in other equipment such as chromatographs microscopy tools for materials characterization is a plus.
- Effective presentation skills to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and data analysis.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Self-starter with an aptitude in problem-solving.
